I also have to give the parents lots of credit for having two daughter's married within 3 months of each other. I think I would have to book myself two spa retreats if Kayla and Savannah ever get married within a year of each other : )

Agh! I apologize for not updating my blog in months. I have been very busy between the girls in school and soccer. I've also been traveling a lot and have been VERY occupied with weddings (BTW, I am almost booked up for May 2010) . Now with wedding season over I have no excuse not to take some time to share and update the past few months. Also I am working on a brand new website which should launch in about a week and I will have a new blog along with it : )

Dascha Boudoir Fashion Show

I was a little worried about only having 90 minutes to do full makeup for 5 models for the Dascha Boutique Lingerie fashion show. I have a tendency to be a perfectionist in addition to talking too much when doing makeup which causes me to be a little slow. It must have been the loud dance music that was playing in the background that helped me move faster and complete the 5 models in perfect timing. I must say my first fashion show was a hit! Now if only I can make my way to New York Fashion Week one of these days. : )

I finally found the best self tanner

My self tanning days started when I first made it on the Redskins Cheerleading team. I had always been against tanning for the obvious reasons. I never wanted premature wrinkles and most importantly I didn't want the risk of possibly getting skin cancer one day. So I was forced to get comfortable in my pale pasty white skin.

When I became a cheerleader I learned that pale pasty skin on the football field was a big faux pas and that self-tanner would have to become my new best friend through the football season. Little did I know that this would be the start to a long and frustrating obsession to finding the best self-tanner.

You are probably thinking what makes a great self tanner and why is it so hard to find? No streaks, no Orange, and most importantly no odor makes a great self tanner and this is like being lost in the Sahara and trying to find water. But, I finally found it. I highly recommend the mousse version and applying it with gloves or having a magic eraser available to use on the hands when finished. It leaves a beautiful rich brown color on the skin that lasts for days and the best part it has no odor.

My good friend, Erin Currin is headed to NYC Friday for an interview with Ford Modeling Agency and needed some photos for her comp card. We scheduled three photoshoots with Keith Barraclough, Troy with Ex Voto Studio, and Jim Cassatt. We did mostly clean/natural looks and threw in a little bit of goth at the National Cathedral. New York Fashion Week

I am currently in the process of building my makeup portfolio and I decided the best way to make my portfolio stronger is to work with some New York photographers and agency represented models. So last month I packed my bags and took a short trip to New York City during fashion week and brought my mom, my sister, and neighbor along. Each one of us have such different personalities which made the trip very funny and interesting.

There was my neighbor, Michelle (who reminds me of Samantha from Sex and the City) who kept us entertained on our 4 hour car ride with her hilarious sex stories. Then there was my conservative sister, Justine, who got a little tipsy one night and ended up chasing down our taxi cab because she thought she left her phone in the cab and ended up running right smack into a parked car meanwhile her phone was in her purse the entire time. Then there was my mom, "The Gilf" ,who was always surrounded by young men everywhere we went. I on the other hand didn't have any funny experiences, which is a rarity, but I did manage to get into an argument with a drunk guy at a bar for spraying multi-purpose cleaner on my new shirt (don't ask me where he got it from).

Overall, it was great trip and I was able to schedule a shoot with photographer, Tim Regas and my new friend/model, Vanessa with Wilhelmina. Above are a few pics from the shoot.

In the beginning of the New Year, my sister and talented photographer, Shelby Martin held a 3 day marathon boudoir session for her clients at the Westin in downtown Annapolis. Of course I took advantage of the opportunity and convinced her to squeeze me in for a quick shoot.

I was inspired by Gisele Bundchen in GQ. She had these amazing photos where she was in bed wearing men's underwear and appearing like she just woke up. I am definitely no where near as hot as Gisele but I must say Shelby did a great job recreating the photo that I showed her.

Inauguration

Along with the Inauguration of Barack Obama, also comes Inaugural parties. Though I am limited to the parties that I get to go to since I have my girls this weekend, I was able to attend the celebration to honor the Inauguration of Barack Obama at Cafe Milano on Friday where Star Jones from The View made an appearance.

Also on January 20th I will be viewing the parade from a friend's condo in downtown D.C. I feel so privileged to live so close the nation's capitol and be able to have the opportunity to experience such a historical moment.
